Welcome to the Cap-Page Board: the cappiest place on Earth!
Theres more than a few other captioning sites out there, but heres a little background on this one. A number of the Cappers here met on the now-defunct Sci Fi Channel Dominion site Caption This! In 2002, I decided to start the Cap-Page Board (or CPB) as a novel alternative to other places. The CPBs grown over the years and changed with the times as well as the input of its members. We caption everything from TV to movies to comic books even videogames!
Anyone can cap here. You register a nickname (or handle), apply for membership (a formality; its a security-option to keep spammers out), then you pick a gallery to caption. Choose a screengrab. If you have something funny to say, press
to enter in your caption for it. If you dont, just hit the
Next Topic>> link and go to the next picture in the
series. And the best thing is, youve got over a week to cap whats available!
Heres an overview of the five sections of the Cap-Page Board:
1) Welcome To The Jungle!
If youre reading this welcome, youre already in this section! So are the rules to the CPB (a *MUST* to read), and instructions for using personals icons and signatures (also a *MUST* read). There are various sub-sections here, too. Youve got a place to see whats coming up for captioning, and even to suggest something yourself. Theres a place to ask questions about capping or other technical whatnot. You can find an updated box office of what shows have been popular here. You can find a listing of websites that some of your favorite Cappers maintain. And, of course, theres the Open Forum, where we all talk about movies, TV, capping and everything else under the sun!
2) The Capping Galleries
The description doesnt get any clearer than that.
This is the meat and potatoes of the site! TV, movies, specials, and everything else gets posted here to caption, and it stays up for ten days to
enjoy at your own speed. While shows come and go all the time, heres some stuff youll see on a regular basis (and as always, your mileage may vary):
Doctor Who 3-4 showings a month
Star Trek The Next Generation a new first-season episode every month
Capper Screengrabber Programming - up to ten showings every month ... great programs screengrabbed by your fellow Cappers
Capper Contributor Programming - a new show each month, mailed in to me be a Capper for showcasing
Buffy The Vampire Slayer - a new episode every two months
V The Series - a new episode every three months
And we also have special galleries under the "Mystery Comic Theater" category, where we present comic book adventures for captioning. While there'll be different sources popping up, there will be special appearances every month for these:
Star Wars - the classic Marvel Comics series which fills in the gaps between "A New Hope," "Empire Strikes Back," and "Return Of The Jedi."
Star Trek - the original Gold Key comic adventures of the classic starship Enterprise!
Doctor Who - the original 1960s TV Comic strips from the UK, starring the First Doctor!
Unlike the regular galleries, the Mystery Comic Theater ones will be up for a month before being replaced.
3) Porch Swings
If the Capping Galleries are the meat and potatoes of the CPB, then the Porch Swings are the meat and two veg.
Theres no way to be subtle about the Swings. Theyve got nudity. Nekkid. Bewbies and asses. The stuff you snuck into the R-rated movies to see when you were a kid. Capper AlexGariepy said it best -- the difference between a Porch Swing screengrab and a Regular Screengrab: When your panty shot doesn't include a pair of panties, it's a Porch Swing. A new gallery gets posted once a month for capping, and like the MCT it will remain up for a month to caption.
Because of the content and Yuku policy, the Porch Swings are accessible to CPB members only. Which means if you're capping here, you should be able to get in there and cap regular like any other gallery. If for some reason you can't get in, drop me a line via email or through the Yuku message system up top and I'll see where I screwed up.
4) You Like To Watch
When the new shows get replaced in the Capping Galleries, they get slipped down here for storage. In this area, you can go through them for one last giggle, get some final good caps in you might not have had the time to do the first time around, or even save them for your own website like many have done. The galleries stay here for two weeks then disappear to that great gallery in the sky.
And there you go! Everything you need to know to be a full-functioning member of Cap-Page Board-society! If you're not too worn out at all my droning, head on down to the galleries and make a funny or two
