Granamyr's question about Mummy/Mummy Returns' screengrabs in Leftovers got me thinking at work (yet again, using the company-dime to put together things for everyone here!). We're over four years old, and a good chunk of folks who haven't been here since the beginning; thus, they've missed out on some programs showcased waaaaaaay back then. So, I've decided to do something a little different. So say hello to CPB-CLASSIC!

Contemporary (tv) Ads

We've done vintage print ads, and had a mess of fun. We've watched older programs with the period ads deliberately left in, and that's been a blast too. Why not do a gallery of nothing but contemporary tv ads?

So, I think I'm finally confident enough with this mommy thing to start doing some screengrabbing again (although maybe not as regularly as I did; depends on how much I can get in while Eric sleeps). With that in mind, there's a couple of subjects I've been thinking about: the Elvis classic (in a manner of speaking) Viva Las Vegas and Pixar's post-apocalyptic masterpiece WALL-E. Any takers? Or are they taken?

So, it's a long shot, but did anyone plan on grabbing this movie?

It's Sean Connery and a bunch of other big names/future big names. Not a great movie.

No? Well, I went ahead and grabbed it, at great personal expense. When I get a couple more movies/tv shows grabbed, I'll send it along.

Do any of you remeber that superhero anti smoking comic book featuring Spider-man, power-man, and Storm? As I recall, they were battling a villian named Smokescreen for control of a track team. Anyone interested? I have no idea how to find/post caps...

Can't recall if these have been suggested/done or not...I blame pregnancy brain (which is just my usual spaciness, only now I have an excuse).

1.) Have we done The Nightmare Before Christmas yet? If not, I'd say we're long overdue!

2.) We really, really need to cap Mamma Mia! Because the only thing I love more than a good musical is making fun of a really bad one, and just a couple clips of Pierce Brosnan's singing have convinced me this...

Im watching this on HBO right now, and this could be some interesting capping fodder. Ir's essentially a 1-man show (There's three other actors in non-speaking roles, and a plant in the audience) and it's pretty funny. There's also slides projected on a screen, one of which we probably cant cap, as it's a picture of a certain piece of male anatomy. It's on again Monday night, with several other airings over the next two weeks and beyond.

Steel Magnolias? What have we done to be punished with Julia Roberts? Not to mention Shirley MacLaine and Olympia Dukakis. Sally Field I can handle, since she was Mama Gump, and her daughter-in-law is a former Yellow Ranger. (Not a Crush, though.)

Or maybe it's an unusual double feature. Steel (loosely based on the DC Comics character) and Magnolia (with Couch jumping Crazy Scientology boy Tom Cruise).

So, I was on Indo's site the other day trying to kill time at work, and having a good laugh at all the Disneyland captions we made a couple years back, and I was wondering--anyone up for a second round of it? I've got the Happy Mouse Kingdom's latest "Vacation Planning DVD" (read: extended commercial) lying around the house here, and I'd be all for screengrabbing it if there's interest. Whaddya think, sirs?

As you might of noticed, I'm back to screengrabbing movies. Granted I'm having a little difficulties with some of the programs I'm using to screengrab but finding ways to work around it. So I got to thinking. Instead of looking for the latest hits to screengrab, why not screengrab old movies, the worst I can find. And believe me, I can find some real stinkburgers. Consider it my way of sharing my love or forcing my enjoyment of bad movies on you. You may all bow down before me...

His Name Was Jason

I was looking on Amazon at movies and one recommended for me was a film called his name was Jason. Looking at it, I found it was a documentary about the entire Friday the 13th franchise going back to the original movie. There was even some stills from the film. Looking at them and knowing how popular Jason is with us cappers makes me wonder if this might not be a title we may want to cap in the future.

Glitter - Just a thought. Considering how good (and funny) a lot of us are getting at Photoshopped captions, you may want to consider giving them their own separate gallery.
